Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy & Mashed Potatoes

  1. two cups chicken broth
  2. 4 cloves garlic
  3. 1lb ground beef
  4. 1 lb mushrooms
  5. 1 medium yellow onion
  6. 4 medium yellow potatoes
  7. 1 tbsp flour
  8. black pepper
  9. 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  10. salt
  11. onion powder
  12. garlic powder
  13. thyme
  14. oil
  15. worcestershire sauce
  1. Peel 4 medium yellow potatoes, put in a pot and cover with water, cover and bring to a boil, turn down to medium and simmer for 12-14 minutes, drain and return to pot
  2. preheat pan on medium high
  3. in a medium bowl combine 1 lb ground beef, 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs, 1 tsp worcestershire sauce, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 onion powder and 1/2 garlic powder,, form 4 patties
  4. coat preheated pan with 2 tbsp oil, add patties and brown 3-4 minutes on each side, remove patties
  5. peel and thinly slice onion into half rings
  6. add 1 tbsp oil to the pan and add onions stir and cook for 3-4 minutes
  7. wash and slice 1lb mushrooms and mince 4 cloves of garlic
  8. add mushrooms, garlic and 1 tsp thyme to the pan and cook until tender 3-4 minutes
  9. in a small bowl whisk together 1 tbsp flour with 1 cup chicken broth, add to the pan and stir to combine
  10. return the patties and all their juices to the pan, cover and simmer till gravy thickens and steaks are cooked through
  11. add 1 cup broth, 1 tbsp oil, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper to potatoes and mash well
  12. to serve place mashed potatoes on plate and top with steak and gravy
